At Russ’s Tree Service, every cord of firewood we produce starts right here in our local Wisconsin communities. Through our daily tree removal, pruning, and land clearing projects, we cut down trees that are dead, diseased, or hazardous. Rather than letting this valuable timber go to waste in landfills, we repurpose it into high quality, clean burning firewood for local homeowners and businesses.
By managing the entire process from tree removal to final delivery, we cut out the middleman and provide our customers with top tier firewood in Wisconsin at affordable, direct from the source prices.
From Tree Removal to Your Fireplace: Our 4-Step Process
1. Selective Hardwood Harvesting
Not every tree makes great firewood. During our local tree service jobs, we carefully select dense, high-BTU hardwoods like oak, maple, and ash. These species produce long lasting heat, steady coals, and minimal sparking, making them ideal for home heating, fireplaces, and fire pits.
2. Precision Cutting and Splitting
Once harvested, raw logs are transported to our processing site. We cut the timber to uniform 16-inch lengths the standard size for most residential fireplaces, wood stoves, and inserts. Our heavy duty hydraulic splitters then process the logs into manageable sizes that light easily and stack neatly.
3. Proper Seasoning & Moisture Control
Burning freshly cut or “green” wood causes excess smoke, rapid creosote buildup in chimneys, and inefficient heat output. We air-dry our split firewood in well-ventilated, sunny stacks until it reaches optimal moisture content. This seasoning period ensures your wood lights quickly, burns hotter, and burns cleanly.
4. Direct Local Delivery & Stacking
After the wood is fully seasoned, our delivery team brings it straight to your home or business. We load, transport, and dump your order right where you want it on your driveway or designated drop area, making your winter prep simple and hassle-free.
The Benefits of Sourcing Firewood Locally
Eco-Friendly Recycling: Repurposing trees from our removal projects keeps organic material out of local landfills and turns waste into clean energy.
Stopping the Spread of Pests: Transporting firewood across state lines or long distances spreads destructive insects like the Emerald Ash Borer. Sourcing and delivering wood locally within Southeastern Wisconsin helps protect our local urban forests.
Unbeatable Local Value: Buying directly from the tree service company that harvests the wood means you get larger quantities and better quality without retail store markups.
